South Dakota Takes Top Spot For Affordable Retirement, Florida Still Dominates
According to a new report, South Dakota featured the top spot for the most affordable city to retire in, however, it does not stop Florida from dominating the list compiled by 55places.com.
"The purpose of the list is to focus for seniors on, 'the towns, cities, and regions that foster that balance between affordability and good living,'" 55places notes, according to Reverse Mortgage Daily.
“We looked at a series of factors and scores from reputable sources to create our rankings, all of which were weighted differently depending on their value.”
Out of the top 10 most affordable cities to retire in, Florida holds six cities and also takes spots two to six. The report also notes that cities in Florida take up close to 50% of the entire list.
"However, Sioux Falls South Dakota had the edge over every Florida locale and all the others listed because of its affordability, along with a wealth of activities that are friendly for those in retirement, according to 55places," according to RMD.
