Sonoma County Homes Sales Increase at the End of 2017

In a great but unfortunate turn for Sonoma County, home sales have skyrocketed. However, this is being directly correlated to a number of homes that were burned and lost during the wildfires that ripped through the area.

"In the final two months of the year, buyers purchased nearly $738 million in houses and condominiums in Sonoma County, according to The Press Democrat's monthly housing report, compiled by Pacific Union International senior vice president Rick Laws," according to National Mortgage News.

"The previous record for November and December was $659 million, set in 2005 in the midst of a national housing bubble."

While it still remains a seller's market, there is no escaping the fact that the lack of supply has driven prices up significantly, wildfires aside.

The fires just escalated the need for more industry as homeowners who had lost everything looked for areas to purchase, preferably not too far away from their previous home.
