DOJ's False Claims Act Shifts Attention To Origination Defects In Forward Mortgages

After dialing it down on False Claims Acts against the mortgage industry, the Department of Justice is now honing in on the Federal Housing Administration's insured reverse mortgages. According to National Mortgage News, the DOJ has acquired over $1.6 billion in False Claims Act settlements, particularly due to "origination defects" in forward mortgages.
