FHA Commissioner To Serve As Interim HUD Deputy Secretary
The Department of Housing and Urban Development will see a shift as Pam Patenaude transitions out of her role as the current Deputy Secretary. After news of the transition broke, it was also revealed that current FHA Commissioner Brian Montgomery, would be assuming the role as interim Deputy Secretary.
"On behalf of a grateful agency, and the families and communities we serve, I want to thank her for her tremendous contributions to advancing HUD’s mission," said Secretary Ben Carson in an email to HousingWire, after accepting Patenaude's letter of resignation.
"She led HUD’s largest disaster recovery response after unprecedented storms and fires damaged communities across the country. She is a true public servant, and I wish her well as she returns to private life in New Hampshire."
The HUD has lost another high-profile position in less than a month, sparking concern within the industry. Despite the concern, the HUD maintains that it is still in good hands and intends on carrying out all duties included its "efforts to increase the supply of housing, end homelessness, enforce fair housing laws, respond to disasters, improve the fiscal condition of HUD and ensure Americans have access to safe, sanitary, and decent housing will continue unabated."
