Santa Fe, NM's housing market is on the rise specifically in the luxury second-home sector. The city is currently No. 1 on the "Hottest Second-Home Market" list from "The Luxury Thermometer," according to a recent report.
"A market that lagged after the 2008 recession is finally catching up — known to have an excellent quality of life and relative affordability is seeing a surge of new buyers creating inventory shortages throughout the city," according to "The Luxury Thermometer" as mentioned in a National Mortgage News report.
The report revealed that out of 21 properties located in Santa Fe and listed on Christie's International Real Estate, just one home is under the $1 million price mark and just barely at that.
Where does Santa Fe stand amongst competitors? Well, the report stated that in terms of how many second-homes are luxury homes sold, there is no concrete evidence. That being said, David Barker, owner of Barker Realty, Christie's Santa Fe affiliate, estimated that "second-home buyers make up more than 50 percent of the luxury market," according to the report.
