Baton Rouge Metro Home Sales Went Up 3.7% in 2017

Home sales rose 3.7% in Baton Rouge, LA for 2017 according to a recent report. Experts revealed that the numbers are actually close to that of the number of homes sold post-Hurricane Katrina.

"There were 11,102 homes sold in the nine-parish area compared with 10,710 in 2016, according to figures released Monday by the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors' Multiple Listing Service," according to National Mortgage News.

The number of homes sold in 2017 is just 189 short of the number of homes that were sold after Hurricane Katrina displaced residents in the area, according to the report. Livingston Parish was responsible for 2,061 of the 11,102 home sales in the Baton Rouge area.

"Activity in Livingston did not stop," said Kristen Goodwin, an agent with Covington & Associates Real Estate in Denham Springs, according to report.

"Sales were really great. People were looking for places to go."

East Baton Rouge Parish clocked in a 2% gain and the report also revealed there was 6,008 MLS sales in 2017 up 119 from 2016.
