Affordability is Still Causing Caution Among Homebuyers

The latest Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index from December 2017 revealed that consumer confidence in the housing market is still quite low, according to a recent report. Affordability is beginning to become more of an issue for buyers particularly in the start of 2018.

"The Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index for December 2017 was 85.8," according to National Mortgage News.

"That reading is down by two notches from the previous month but up more than five notches from December 2016."

Kicking off 2018 with consumers who aren't confident in the market is not the ideal way to start out the year. The report also stated that the number of people who participated in the study and believe it is a good time to buy a home has fallen by five percent.
