Freddie Mac Introduces Duty to Serve Plan for Underserved Markets

It's another day and another Freddie Mac update for us to report. The company has decided to introduce a Duty to Serve Plan for underserved markets.

"The plan [PDF] addresses some of our nation’s most persistent housing challenges, focusing on three historically underserved markets," according to the Freddie Mac announcement.

The underserved markets mentioned include, manufactured housing, rural housing and affordable housing preservation.

Freddie Mac is looking to increase support and liquidity for manufactured housing loan originators, for high-need rural regions and populations and to support the financing of energy efficient home improvements as well as the purchase of homes under shared equity programs, according to the breakdown.
